In Memory of Curt Gnagy

February 7, 2012

I am sorry to announce that my brother Curt passed away yesterday morning at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, WA. He was 57 years old and is survived by his wife Leslie and me, his brother. I will miss him more than anyone can imagine. May he rest in peace in the kingdom of our Lord and savior.

 Mark

As he wished, Curt will be cremated and there will not be a formal memorial ceremony.

Curt for many many many years was the National SCCA Tech Inspector for NWR, and I know no matter what his supposed gruff exterior portrayed he was fun to be around;)   He made the antiquated car scales of the day last longer than anyone else.  He also brought a catered lunch to the track one day, that was over the top ribs etc. etc., for Mike, me, and him.  There was enough to last the entire weekend.  He also had the license plate holder that got a lot of attention:  HAPPINESS IS BEING SINGLE, he got that just after his divorce I think.  Then Leslie came along, and I am sure the holder was gone ;)

Just a short note about Curt Gnagy. I worked with him as Tech Inspectors for a couple of years. He was a great person and even though some people said he was “gruff” and “abrupt”, he wasn’t. He was an excellent Scrutineer and Tech Inspector and he was a very good friend. I will miss him a lot.

I was sorry to hear about Curt’s passing. I knew Curt from Boeing. We worked in the Tool Engineering organization, sometimes in the same crew. It was always a pleasure running into Curt. We always had very interesting conversations about what was going on in our groups. Curt’s point of view was always very clear, and intelligent. Curt didn’t pull punches. You always knew where he was coming from. Both of us had worked with just about everybody in the Renton Tooling organization at one time or another, so there was always much to catch up on every time we ran into each other. Curt is someone I will always remember. My condolences to his family and his friends. He will be missed.
